Every skin has
a story.
Every plan at TLC Skyn starts with the person, not the procedure.
Book a consultationThread veins on the cheeks, a birthmark that’s never quite faded, redness across the nose that won’t go away with creams – these are some of the most common reasons people walk into our clinic asking what can be done. None of it is usually dangerous. But it’s visible, and it’s often the first thing people notice about your skin before anything else. Vascular lesion laser treatment gives us a way to fade these marks without surgery, using light energy that targets the blood vessel itself and leaves the skin around it untouched.
What exactly is a vascular lesion, and how does the laser treat it?
A vascular lesion is any visible mark on the skin caused by blood vessels sitting too close to the surface, or vessels that have widened over time. That covers a fairly wide range – from telangiectasia (the fine red threads you see around the nose or cheeks) to hemangioma (a raised, reddish birthmark), as well as spider veins, cherry angiomas and small vascular spots, and general vessel-driven redness on the face.
The laser works on a simple principle: it’s tuned to a wavelength that’s absorbed strongly by hemoglobin, the pigment in blood. When the light hits the vessel, it heats up, collapses, and is slowly cleared by the body over the following weeks. The skin around it isn’t a good absorber at that wavelength, so it’s largely spared – which is why this technology works well even on thinner, more sensitive facial skin. It’s the same light-based principle behind our laser hair removal, just tuned to a different target in the skin.
Why patients choose TLC Skyn for this
Vascular lesions aren’t all the same, and treating them well depends on picking the right wavelength and energy setting for the specific vessel you’re dealing with – get it wrong and you either under-treat it or risk marking the skin. So every session at TLC Skyn starts with an actual look at the lesion in person: how old it is, what type it is, how deep it sits, and how your skin tends to respond, before we talk about a plan.
If you’ve been searching for vascular lesion laser treatment in Kollam, or somewhere in Kerala that treats telangiectasia and hemangioma without overselling results, this is what we aim to offer – a straightforward clinical approach with realistic expectations set upfront. You can read more about our clinic and team if you’d like to know who you’ll be seeing.
What this treatment can actually do for you
People come in for different reasons. Some want the redness across their cheeks gone before an event – often the same persistent facial redness that brings people in asking about rosacea. Others have had a hemangioma since childhood and are finally ready to deal with it. A few just want their spider veins to stop being the first thing they see in the mirror.
What you can generally expect:
- Visibly fewer or fainter blood vessels in the treated area
- No cutting, no stitches – it’s done with light, not a blade
- Precision that targets the vessel itself, sparing the skin around it
- Little to no real downtime for most people
- Works across a range of concerns – telangiectasia, hemangioma, spider veins, cherry angiomas
What actually happens during a session
We start by talking – how long the mark has been there, whether it’s changed, what’s already been tried. Based on that and a close look at the lesion, we settle on the laser settings that suit its size, colour, and depth.
During the treatment itself, you’ll wear protective eyewear, and the laser is passed over the marked vessels. Most people describe the feeling as a quick snap, a bit like a rubber band against the skin – not comfortable, but brief. Afterward, some redness or light swelling in the area is completely normal and usually settles within a day or so.
Depending on how extensive the lesion is, one session might not be enough. We’ll be upfront if more are likely to be needed, and space them out to give your skin time to respond between visits.
Who tends to benefit from this
This treatment is worth considering if:
- You have visible thread veins around the nose, cheeks, or chin
- You have a hemangioma or vascular birthmark you’d like faded
- Your face stays red in patches, even when nothing else is going on
- You’ve got cherry angiomas or small vascular spots that bother you
If you’re not sure whether what you’re seeing is actually vascular – sometimes pigmentation looks similar at first glance – that’s exactly what the first consultation is for.
Why we don’t treat every lesion the same way
Two people can walk in with what looks like the same redness and need completely different settings – it comes down to how deep the vessel sits, how pigmented your skin is, and how it’s likely to heal. So rather than running one protocol for everyone, we adjust the laser and the number of sessions to your specific skin and lesion, aiming for a result that holds up rather than fades back in a few months.
We’ll also ask about things that matter more than people expect – how much sun your skin gets day to day, whether you scar easily, whether you’ll realistically stick to aftercare – because all of that shapes how well the treatment actually works for you.
After your session – what’s normal, and what to watch for
Some redness, warmth, or mild swelling right after treatment is expected and usually fades quickly. Smaller vessels often start fading within days; larger or deeper ones take longer, and may need a follow-up session to finish the job.
In the days after, keep the area out of direct sun and use sunscreen properly – this matters more than most people realise for how the result settles. Leave any scabbing alone rather than picking at it. And if you notice blistering, swelling that isn’t going down, or anything that looks like infection, get in touch with us rather than waiting it out.
Once your skin has settled, it’s worth thinking about your overall skin health too – many of our vascular laser patients also come in for a chemical peel a few weeks later to even out tone and texture further.
