Got a wart, skin tag, or small growth that just won’t go away on its own? Cryosurgery might be the fastest way to deal with it. It’s a simple procedure where liquid nitrogen is used to freeze off the unwanted tissue – no cuts, no stitches, and most people are in and out within minutes. At TLC Skyn, we’ve been using this technique for years to treat a range of common skin lesions safely and with minimal fuss.

    What exactly is cryosurgery?

In simple terms, cryosurgery (or cryotherapy) means freezing off a skin growth using liquid nitrogen, which sits at a temperature cold enough to destroy the targeted cells almost instantly. Once frozen, the tissue blisters over the next day or so and eventually falls away on its own, leaving fresh skin underneath.

It’s a go-to option for things like warts, skin tags, seborrheic keratoses, and certain small, harmless moles. Because it’s non-surgical, there’s barely any prep needed – you can usually walk in, get it done, and walk out the same visit.

Why get it done at TLC Skyn?

Freezing a lesion sounds simple, but knowing how long to freeze it, how deep to go, and whether it’s even the right lesion for cryo – that’s where experience matters. Before we touch anything, we examine the growth in person and make sure cryosurgery is actually the best route for you, rather than just defaulting to it.

If you’ve been searching for cryosurgery in Kollam or liquid nitrogen wart removal in Kerala, we’re a local clinic where the process is handled carefully, hygienically, and without unnecessary steps.

    Why people choose cryosurgery

    • It’s quick – most lesions are treated in a couple of minutes
    • No cutting, no stitching, minimal bleeding
    • Barely any prep required beforehand
    • Multiple small spots like warts or skin tags can be treated in one sitting
    • Lower infection risk compared to more invasive removals like mole excision

What actually happens during the procedure

We start by looking at the lesion closely – size, depth, how long you’ve had it, whether it’s changed. Once we’re confident cryosurgery is the right call, we explain what to expect before going ahead.

The liquid nitrogen is applied directly to the spot, usually with a spray device or a cotton-tip applicator. You’ll feel a sharp cold sensation, sometimes a bit of a sting as it thaws – it’s brief, and most people tolerate it well. Depending on the lesion, we may repeat the freeze once or twice in the same session.

Within a day or two, the area typically blisters or scabs over. We’ll walk you through how to care for it so it heals cleanly – this part matters as much as the procedure itself.

Who’s a good fit for this?

Cryosurgery works well if you have:

    • Warts that haven’t cleared up on their own
    • Skin tags you’d rather not have anymore
    • Seborrheic keratoses or similar benign raised spots
    • A small mole your clinician has confirmed is safe to treat this way

Not every growth is right for cryo, though. If yours needs a different approach, we’ll point you toward mole excision, sebaceous cyst excision, or lipoma excision instead. That’s really the only way to know for sure – get it looked at in person.

    It’s not one-size-fits-all

Every lesion freezes a little differently depending on its size, depth, and where it is on your body – and everyone’s skin responds differently too. We adjust the freeze time and technique accordingly, and we factor in things like how visible the area is and how prone you are to scarring, so the outcome actually works for you. More on how we approach treatment on our About page.

    After the procedure

Some redness, mild swelling, and a stinging sensation right after treatment is completely normal. A blister will likely form within a day or two – leave it alone and let it heal rather than picking at it.

Keep the area clean, avoid rubbing it against clothing, and stay out of direct sun while it’s healing. If you start noticing more pain, spreading redness, warmth, or any discharge, get in touch with us right away.
